Jo Spence
I really like Jo Spence's style of photography. Its like the ultimate
exposé on cancer but featuring hersself. I love the way she manages to take personal images of her self. I like the way nothing is staged, all her images are created from her emotions and experiences. I think that these documentary style photographs are really moving and tell a lot about her as a person and her experience of how brutal cancer is.

MY OWN WORK
To create this image I used the 'invert' tool. You will also find this tool on the right hand side above the layers panel. This is a one step effect all you have to do is click the button and it will do this for you. You can change it slightly by playing with the other effects as you would on a normal image; such as if you play around with the colour balance and the the light in the image the tones in the image will change darker or lighter when inverted.

MY OWN WORK
This is an image of mine that I edited on photoshop. I used four different techniques to create these new images.
To create this image I used the 'curves' effect on photoshop. You can find this tool on the right hand side of the page above the layers panel. This effect allows you to change the brightness of an image. It does this by enhancing the shadows, undertones and light in the image. Using this tool is fairly simple, all you have to do is drag the curved line somewhere away from the centre line, (the origional light balance) within the box. Different areas of the box will produce different effects.

Filters
To create this image I used the 'filter' tool on photoshop. You can also find this tool in the right hand side panel above the layer panel. This effect allows you to create a filter over your image making it warmer or cooler by choosing different colour filters. For this image I used a sepia style filter slightly warming the image but not making it vibrant.

MY OWN WORK
These are some of my own photographs that I took for an experimental shoot as part of a project I did where we had to recreate a famous painting. I chose a painting from a collection of wedding paintings by Rai Escale. Although these images are only from my experiemtal shoot, (to test the lighting and poses) I really like the way that they turned out. There are some technical problems with these photos such as the back-drop wasn't pulled out completely and you can see some of the light as it wasnt positioned in exactly the right place so it is visible.

TOM HUNTER
Tom Hunter is an award winning and internationally acclaimed artist. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in major solo and group shows. He is most famous for his recreations of famous paintings using photography. I really like this concept because I think its a very innotavive and unusual project for someone to come up with. Although photography isn't a relitively new form of technology Hunter has used modern techniques within the field of photography to recreate these paintings.

FRANK GEHRY
Gehry's new age architecture is wildly creative and different to other architects work. He has definitely created a new way of thinking about architecture and pushed the boundaries for design.
I really like his modern designs for buildings making them artwork. They are not only buildings they are sculptures and landmarks. I like how he has turned a mundane object into something interesting and nice to look at.

ELECTRICAL FANTASISTA:
This is an exhibit from a gallery in Yokohama, the second largest city in Japan. This collection of exhibits explore different uses of new media in art. The bankART exhibit is well known in Yokohama and this style of art has spread largely through Yokohama, and links to the urban redevelopment and consistent changes in art culture and style spreading throughout Europe.
I really like this style of new media, I think that it is simple yet innovative. I also like the combined styles especially in this exhibit as the maker has used recycled materials along with modern maneuvering techniques to make the exhibit move, making it more interactive.
